I’ve never met Farah. I first spoke to her in the twitter verse one evening a few months ago. I had no idea who she was at the start and since I drift in the twitter verse with the images consciously switched off, I’d only known Farah as lines of text floating in the ether.

From Farah, I learned that her name means ‘Beauty’ and ‘Happiness’. And when I stumbled across this blog and put a face to the name, she immediately impressed on me the image of the university buddy, the best friend at work…the girl next door you’ve grown up with but with whom you’d not been more than the nodding acquaintance.

Gazing at the photos of Farah in this blog, one instantly recognizes her talent for reinvention. In each image one discovers a different version of Farah. She is and isn’t. She is light and she is darkness. She is fierce as she is tender. She is as comfortable curled up with a book as she is confident in studio lights.

It is possible that we could have passed each other in the street. A friend says I am hopeless and clueless. I wouldn’t even know Farah from another. Perhaps because in my world there’s beauty and there’s beauty. And Farah is beautiful, but in a different sense. She is beautiful in the way that all women are individually beautiful.

“You don’t notice her right away in a crowd, but suddenly you see her all at once, and then she is so beautiful you wonder why you never saw her before.” (The Book of Qualities)

And this, I think, is what makes Farah so endearing.

I’ve never met Farah in person. She and I will always remain strangers. Despite this, I will wish for her the gift of beauty (of Soul) and of happiness (in her Heart), always.

Not really. I only wore the clothes for the shoot. Grace gave me a cute colorful dress from STOiC. Awesome clothes you got there! 🙂
