BRAVO FILIPINO!

Posted in Modeling World by Farah Ramos on April 28, 2010

BRAVO FILIPINO. “Filipina, Bravo!” April 23, 2010. Fashion Walk, Greenbelt 5.

BRAVO FILIPINO is a festival of the Filipino art, music, and fashion.

Launched in 2008 along with the formal opening of Greenbelt 5, the concept dovetails with the mall’s efforts to showcase upscale Filipino designers. Greenbelt 5 serves as a platform for these designers, many of whom have established themselves abroad, to gain public recognition in their own country. (Manila Standard Today, March 13-14, 2010)

“We hope that with Bravo! Celebrating the Filipino, people realize the many reasons to take pride in being a Filipino and that this renewed sense of self-respect will drive us into pushing our country forward, closer to our dreams of lasting unity and progress.” says Don Jaime Zobel de Ayala, chairman emeritus of the Ayala Group of Companies (which includes Ayala Lands, Inc., Ayala Malls, Ayala Foundation and Filipinas Heritage Library, Globe and BPI ).

Part of the festival is “Filipina, Bravo,” a Fashion Show organized by Inno Sotto (the Prince of Philippine Fashion). It showcased the designs of Bonne Bouche, Ana Rocha, Aranaz, Azucar, Criselda Lontok, Hindy Webber-Tantoco, Jewelmer, Myth, Patrice Ramos-Diaz, Religioso, Silk Cocoon, Tan Gan, Tippi Ocampo, and Patis Tesoro.

Luckily, I was chosen as one of the models to walk down the runway wearing one of the designs of Ms. Tippi Ocampo. This is the biggest Fashion Show I’ve done so far (not to mention the longest runway I’ve ever experienced). I will never forget this momentous event. I am truly proud and honored to be able to take part in this kind of event which shows how dedicated these people are of reliving the Filipino art and culture. BRAVO FILIPINO, indeed!

Apart from all those things, I just would like to share how glad I am to have worked with the top designers, top models, and other famous personalities in the Philippine Fashion Industry.

I felt like a fan when I spotted Joan Bitagcol while having her make-up done for the show. She smiled at me. And of course, Ria Bolivar, my all-time favorite supermodel.

Special thanks to: Ito Ocampo (got some photos from Ms. Tippi Ocampo’s Facebook) and Angelie Ungriano for the photos.
