April 24, 2010: CALATAGAN, BATANGAS.

Posted in Adventures by Farah Ramos on April 28, 2010

Spontaneous trip! Right after watching Ms. Earth-Philippines (oh, Steph Stefanowitz of Butuan City got in the Top 10!), we all went to Icon… and when we got bored, we decided to go to Calatagan, Batangas.

We went to this “secret” island. There’s not much people there. There was even a sign that says, “Private. Do Not Enter.” Sven and Paolo know the ‘bangkeros’ since they’ve been there countless times.

It’s a sandbar. It’s a tiny Island… you won’t see it when it’s high tide. It’s that awesome! Fine sand (finer than in Boracay, I guess) and well we got the island all to ourselves!

* * * * * The tiny island.

* * * * * First time I’ve seen a starfish! HELLO, PATRICK! Where’s spongebob?

* * * * * * The spa! Haha!

* * * * * * Kuya, the ‘bangkero’

* * * * See? It was just us. Kuya bangkero, Sven, Paolo, JC, and I.

BRAVO FILIPINO!

Posted in Modeling World by Farah Ramos on April 28, 2010

BRAVO FILIPINO. “Filipina, Bravo!” April 23, 2010. Fashion Walk, Greenbelt 5.

BRAVO FILIPINO is a festival of the Filipino art, music, and fashion.

Launched in 2008 along with the formal opening of Greenbelt 5, the concept dovetails with the mall’s efforts to showcase upscale Filipino designers. Greenbelt 5 serves as a platform for these designers, many of whom have established themselves abroad, to gain public recognition in their own country. (Manila Standard Today, March 13-14, 2010)

“We hope that with Bravo! Celebrating the Filipino, people realize the many reasons to take pride in being a Filipino and that this renewed sense of self-respect will drive us into pushing our country forward, closer to our dreams of lasting unity and progress.” says Don Jaime Zobel de Ayala, chairman emeritus of the Ayala Group of Companies (which includes Ayala Lands, Inc., Ayala Malls, Ayala Foundation and Filipinas Heritage Library, Globe and BPI ).

Part of the festival is “Filipina, Bravo,” a Fashion Show organized by Inno Sotto (the Prince of Philippine Fashion). It showcased the designs of Bonne Bouche, Ana Rocha, Aranaz, Azucar, Criselda Lontok, Hindy Webber-Tantoco, Jewelmer, Myth, Patrice Ramos-Diaz, Religioso, Silk Cocoon, Tan Gan, Tippi Ocampo, and Patis Tesoro.

Luckily, I was chosen as one of the models to walk down the runway wearing one of the designs of Ms. Tippi Ocampo. This is the biggest Fashion Show I’ve done so far (not to mention the longest runway I’ve ever experienced). I will never forget this momentous event. I am truly proud and honored to be able to take part in this kind of event which shows how dedicated these people are of reliving the Filipino art and culture. BRAVO FILIPINO, indeed!

Apart from all those things, I just would like to share how glad I am to have worked with the top designers, top models, and other famous personalities in the Philippine Fashion Industry.

I felt like a fan when I spotted Joan Bitagcol while having her make-up done for the show. She smiled at me. And of course, Ria Bolivar, my all-time favorite supermodel.

Special thanks to: Ito Ocampo (got some photos from Ms. Tippi Ocampo’s Facebook) and Angelie Ungriano for the photos.

NEWSFLASH!

Posted in Modeling World by Farah Ramos on April 21, 2010

The Fashion Design students of College of St. Benilde showcased their designs last April 16, 2010 at the 1st floor of the SDA building.

The young designers showed promise. I saw a lot of interesting designs and patterns backstage when we were lined-up, waiting for our turn to walk down the runway.

I wore the designs of Fatz Poblador, Queenie, and Meriann Uy.

FATZ POBLADOR: I love the color and the design. It’s simple and it’s wearable. What I really like about it is the fit. Amazing job, Fatz!

QUEENIE: Love the pattern! Avant Garde. Interesting design.

MERIANN UY: Sexy design. Check out the slit!

Last Saturday, April 17, I did a show for Ruel Rivera in Marikina City. Mycke Summers, the other models, and I did a quick shoot at the make-up room.

The top is a deconstructed bag. It actually fits well and I like the pattern of the tights.

EVERYTHING MUST CONVERGE.

I’m such a “stage friend.” (if there’s even such a thing) Anyway, I love it when I see my friends living their dreams. It takes guts and hard work in order to reach something that used to be unreachable.

STEPH STEFANOWITZMS. PHILIPPINES-EARTH finalist.

Steph is 21 years old, a Fashion Design student from College of St. Benilde. Her mom is from Butuan City while her dad was from Hamburg, Germany.

She is a model and a host. She joined FORD SUPERMODEL SEARCH 2008 and won 2nd runner-up (the one who bagged the title was Charo Ronquillo). Before joining Ms. Earth, she’s been busy doing hosting jobs for an Eco Show in Studio 23 and for events.

The coronation night will be held on April 24 at the Manila Ocean Park. See you there!

We need your support guys. Just click on the link and vote for Ms. Butuan: MS. PHILIPPINES-EARTH 2010.

MAJA SALVADOR on the cover of PREVIEW MAGAZINE’s April Issue

A little flashback: I met Maja 8 years back at a modeling workshop. She was the first person to talk to me and we instantly hit it off. After a while, Merille Raagas (she’s now a Law student/ model in Australia) joined our conversation… That afternoon conversation was the start of a beautiful friendship. That was when the three of us decided to pursue our common dream which is to become a model. After a couple of years, Merille and I continued that dream while destiny pushed Maja towards showbiz (with the help of course of my mother who used to be her manager).

And now Maja is really living her dreams. She’s now an actress at the same time gracing the covers of the top magazines in the country, endorses products on TV commercials and print advertisements. Proud of my dude!

LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT

Found SYU SHU‘s link on Facebook and I instantly fell in love with these CRAZY shoes! (Or check out their Facebook account.) I’ve been looking for a nice pair of lace-up ankle boots and boom, here they are (plus two more amazing pairs):

Syu Shu is an online store from Indonesia and the prices of the shoes above range from 60 USD- 90 USD.

It was my first time to spend HOLY WEEK in Manila. I literally spent it at home… so I borrowed some DVDs from my cousin and did some catching up. I finally got the chance to watch some movies that I didn’t get to see because either I was busy or I wasn’t in the mood for it.

THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG

I am really a sucker for fairytales so I already knew I’d love this Disney movie. I still believe in HAPPY ENDINGS even if sometimes things seem so unreachable. I remember texting a friend of mine what I was doing and telling her I will surely be inspired again after watching this. True enough, ’cause I listen very closely and pay attention to the lyrics of the songs. And this is my favorite song from the movie:

ALMOST THERE” by Tiana

Mama! I don’t have time for dancing!

That’s just gonna have to wait a while
Ain’t got time for messing around
And it’s not my style
This old town can slow you down
People taking the easy way
But I know exactly where I’m going
Getting closer and closer every day

And I’m almost there, I’m almost there
People down here think I’m crazy, but I don’t care
Trials and tribulations, I’ve had my share
There ain’t nothing gonna stop me now ’cause I’m almost there

I remember Daddy told me: ‘Fairytales can come true
You gotta make ’em happen, it all depends on you”
So I work real hard each and every day
Now things for sure are going my way
Just doing what I do
Look out boys, I’m coming through

And I’m almost there, I’m almost there
People gonna come here from everywhere
And I’m almost there
I’m almost there

There’s been trials and tribulations
You know I’ve had my share
But I’ve climbed the mountain, I’ve crossed the river
And I’m almost there, I’m almost there
I’m almost there!

ALICE IN WONDERLAND

Disappointing. Maybe because as I have mentioned, I love Fairytales and this one showcased more of the dark side.

Also, I got to read a good book which was given to me as a gift by my MC Buddy! It’s called “EVERYONE WORTH KNOWING” by Lauren Weisberger.

Quote from the book: “Anything worth having is worth working for.”

It’s about a banker-turned-events planner-turned-writer. Did I just read Lalaine Odal‘s your lifestory? LOL! But really, it’s entertaining and yes one day, we’ll both find our “Sammy.”

Test. CAMPAIGN. Runway.

Did this photoshoot with BENJO BILLONES (photographer and art director) months ago. He’s now a contributing photographer for METRO MAGAZINE, how cool is that? I’m so happy for you, Bench!

And here are the campaign ads for LISTENING IN STYLE which I did also months ago. Yes, this is my first Print Advertisement. 🙂

FaDAL Manila: FIRST LOOK (Summer 2010)

It was the launch of Fashion Designers Alliance Manila at Shangri-La Mall last March 19. I just got the photos now, hence the late post.

This is how the show started:

I wore two fabolous designs by CHERRY VERIC and JAZ CEREZO:

DESIGNER: CHERRY VERIC

DESIGNER: JAZ CEREZO

And it was my second time to work with Fashion Director CATA FIGUEROA (my first time was for Project Runway Season 2 Finale). It was really an honor to be given an opportunity to work with him. I hope there still would be a lot more.

SPECIAL THANKS TO: BENJO BILLONES and PAUL CORTES for the photos.
